ROCKHAMPTON BEEF’S NEW DIRECTION FORUM

1. This Forum calls for the implementation of the Beef’s New Direction Strategic Plan.
2. This Forum calls for the restructure of the Red Meat Industry Organisations with the abolition of unnecessary bodies, revamped voting and board selection process and refined focus on core functions such as market information, market access and domestic beef promotion.
3. This Forum calls for all Beef Producer Peak Councils to be elected by MLA levy payers.
4. This forum calls on the Prime Minister to have Agriculture as a single portfolio.
5. This Forum calls for State and Federal Governments to provide decentralisation incentives for business to relocate into regional Australia and introduce financial and taxation incentives to halt the decline in rural and regional Australia.
6.This Forum requests that the Federal Government enact legislation to benefit the Australian Beef and Cattle Industry, such as legislation similar to the US Packers and Stockyards Act 1921 and Livestock Mandatary Price Reporting Act 1999.
7. This Forum calls on the Federal Government to establish a Development Bank for rural and regional Australia.
8. This Forum requests the Federal Agricultural Minister, in conjunction with interested participants, to implement a beef cattle supply intelligence service for the Australian Beef Industry.
